COINCIDENCES IN MY LIFE – PART 1©

ARISTEO CANLAS FERNANDO
Peace Crusader and Echo of the Holy Spirit

All the names below—Aristaeus, Artemis, Apollo, and Echo—are names in Greek mythology which have been associated with me.  Those in parentheses are quoted from The World Book Dictionary.

  1.  Aristaeus – “the son of Apollo and the water nymph Cyrene, famous as a keeper of bees”.   He received instruction from the Muses in the arts of healing and prophecy.  He is the guardian of herds and fields and was represented as a young man dressed like a shepherd and sometimes carrying a sheep.

My name is Aristeo.  It came from the Hispanized Greek god Aristaeus which may be from the Greek word aristo meaning ‘best’.

  1.  Artemis – “the goddess of the hunt, of the forests, of wild animals, and of the moon.  She was the twin sister of Apollo and was called Diana by the Romans.”

This is the name of the computer fourth generation database program that I used when I worked in Saudi Arabia (1985-1988) and at BHP Steel in Australia (1989-1992).

  1. Apollo – “the god of the sun, poetry, music, prophecy, healing, and archery.  The Greeks and Romans considered Apollo the highest type of youthful, manly beauty.”  He is the son of Leto and twin brother of Artemis.

This is the name of the model of the family’s second car in Australia (1994 to present, 2012).  It is made by Holden (General Motors) and is a rebadged Toyota Camry.

  1. Echo – “a nymph who pined away with love for Narcissus until only her voice was left”.

This is the name of the model of the second-hand Toyota economy car that I used in commuting between home and work at the Department of Defence at Bulimba in Brisbane (2006-2008), a distance of about 40 km each way.  It is still running and has been lent to my daughter in Melbourne in 2011.

After I bought the car in 1986, I realized that I am just echoing the Holy Spirit, that is why from then on, I say that I am the ‘Echo of the Holy Spirit’.  I recommended the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) by our team in the Department of Defence in Sydney (2004-2006) for correct spelling of purchase order number, names of people, streets and suburbs, etc.  Echo is IPA’s code name of the letter E.

Registration plate number

In 2003-04-23, I went to the Queensland Transport at Woodridge to register the Apollo car in Queensland to replace FAF 888 registration in New South Wales.  I was given the top of a newly-opened box of plate numbers containing 240 ICD to 259 ICD.

When I fetched wife from office, she said that ICD means “I see Thee” like an abbreviated text message.  It means “I see God”.

Fr. Ben Macajes, a Roman Catholic priest, told me that ICD means “Iesus Christus Dominus” meaning Jesus Christ God.  Dominus, from “The Random House Dictionary of the English Language”, means lord or master and not exactly God.  Two days later, I thought D may be Deus.  True, the Latin word Deus stands for God.  Hence, ICD means “Iesus Christus Deus” or Jesus Christ God.  I still did not know what 240 stands for.  You may read the details at http://aristean.org/post049.htm

In 2006-08-31, I bought a Toyota Echo economy car for use in commuting to work.  Its registration plate number is 462 IDE.  Since it is model Echo, I thought IDE stands for “I Thee echo” which I realized is what I was doing.  I echo what Ama (God the Father) or the Holy Spirit (the spirit of Jesus Christ) is saying.  That is why from the latter part of 2006, I used “Echo of the Holy Spirit” as a title together with “Peace Crusader”.  I still did not know what 462 stands for, like 240.

I brought up the topic in the forum at James Randi Educational Foundation.  One person by the name of Thabiguy cracked the mystery of 240 and 462.  He said to subtract 240 from 462, the answer is 222.  Divide 222 by 2, the answer is 111.  God is number 1, and as Trinity, it is 111.  To find the midpoint, 240 + 111 = 351.  462 – 111 = 351,  The midpoint is 351 which may stand from Christ (3) echoes (5) Ama (1).  Ama is the Filipino word for God the Father.  This is how we (plural) call the Holy Spirit we talk to.  What is your opinion?  You may read Thabiguy’s post at http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=73877&page=17 .

When I was working in the government in Sydney from 2004 to 2006, I proposed that we use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) because we were dealing with alphanumeric Purchase Order Number and names which maybe exotic or aboriginal. It was not as easy, like Smith or John. We are in a multicultural society, hence people’s, street’s, or suburb’s names may be misspelled.

THE INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET (IPA)©

The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) represents all the letters of the English language into simple, accurate phonetic transcriptions.

A – Alpha
B – Bravo
C – Charlie
D – Delta
E – Echo
F – Foxtrot
G – Golf
H – Hotel
I – India
J – Juliett
K – Kilo
L – Lima
M – Mike
N – November
O – Oscar
P – Papa
Q – Quebec
R – Romeo
S – Sierra
T – Tango
U – Uniform
V – Victor
W – Whiskey
X – X-ray
Y – Yankee
Z – Zulu

The phonetic alphabet is used by mariners at sea, air controllers, airline companies, international telegraphy, short-wave radio users (such as the police and taxi firms).  Those people working in Call Centers should learn this phonetic alphabet, especially in a multicultural society like in Australia, the United States, Canada, United Kingdom where names of people and street are not common and oftentimes, have to be spelled out.  The alphabet is also used in spelling reservation numbers, purchase order number, registration number, etc.

I first promoted the use of the phonetic alphabet to my colleagues when I was working at Department of Defence in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia from 2004-04 to 2006-08.  I did not know that when I moved back to Brisbane, Queensland, I would buy a Toyota economy car model Echo on 2006-08-31.  The registration number of the car is 462 IDE.  IDE stands for “I Thee echo”.
